Occupational Therapy

OUTPATIENT OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY

bathing assistanceDevelopment of detailed outpatient therapy program to further improve an individual's ability to function in everyday activities. Using state of the art equipment and up-to-date training techniques, recovery is expedited with optimal return of function to work and home activities. Emphasis is placed on carry-over of program into home/work setting for prevention of re-injury.

Our department includes a lymphedema program with treatment available for patients with primary lymphedema, lymphedema secondary to cancer treatment, lymphedema secondary to trauma and lymphedema secondary to venous insufficiency. Treatment is provided by a Certified Lymphedema Therapist for both upper and lower extremities and includes and individualized treatment plan with focus on manual lymph drainage, medical compression bandaging, exercise and long term management of lymphedema.

The department is also staffed to treat urinary incontinence through patient education, bladder re-training, exercise and biofeedback. Incontinence is not a normal response to the aging process and with the help of our trained occupational therapist bladder control problems can be improved.
