Operating Room (OR)

While You Are In Surgery

Your nurse will let your family and loved ones know where to wait during your surgery. It will either be the Same Day Surgery room or the Surgical Waiting area.

  • At MercyOne Clinton, we understand the importance of keeping family and friends informed during your surgical procedure.
  • Our Same Day Surgery area features an electronic patient tracking board to assist in communicating to those waiting.
    • To ensure your privacy, we list only your initials on the tracking board. As you begin in the pre-operative area, your progress will be noted on the board. The board will keep your family and friends informed of your progress and location.
    • If your family or friends need to leave the Same Day Surgery area, please have them tell a nurse where they are going. This allows us to find them in the event a doctor or Operating Room staff needs to talk with them. Your family or friends are encouraged to leave a cell phone number so they can be reached.
    • We are committed to providing an excellent experience for you and your family and friends. Please let us know if there is anything we can do for you during your stay.
  • Occasionally, even if you are going home, you may recover on our surgical floor on the fourth floor depending on your individual situation or the time of day.

Operating Room

You will be wheeled into the Operating Room on your cart. Occasionally you will go back in a wheelchair depending on your procedure. Your surgical nurse will be with you the entire time. Please let him or her know of any concerns or worries you have so we may address them. There are no worries or concerns too small to mention.
