Mercy Homecare &
Hospice Shares Expertise
Mercy Homecare & Hospice in Clinton is helping medical professionals
assess breathing difficulties among Medicare patients. The innovative
methods created by Mercy Homecare & Hospice are being shared
with home health agencies throughout Iowa and North Dakota.
“We are happy to share the tools we created,” Julie
Kemp of Mercy Homecare & Hospice said. “By sharing and
networking with other home health agencies, we all can learn ways
to improve care for our patients.”
Upon reviewing the tools produced by Mercy Homecare & Hospice,
the North Dakota Health Care Review asked representatives of Mercy
Homecare & Hospice to share their expertise with home health
agencies throughout North Dakota.
In cooperation with the Iowa Foundation for Medical Care, Mercy
Homecare & Hospice has also shared these tools with Iowa’s
home health agencies.
Home health care is care provided to people who have a medical
need for skilled care. By providing quality services, home health
agencies make it possible for patients to receive health and personal
care in their own home.
Mercy Homecare & Hospice is a participant in the Home Health
Quality Initiative (HHQI), a federal program to improve the quality
of care for Medicare patients using home health care services.
The HHQI was launched in November by the Centers for Medicare &
Medicaid Services, a federal agency of the U.S. Department of Health
and Human Services. Information on Medicare certified home health
agencies is available at the Home Health Compare section of Medicare’s
consumer Web site, www.medicare.gov or by calling 1-800-MEDICARE
(1-800-633-4227). The web site and toll free telephone number will
give consumers information about individual home health agencies
in Iowa and across the nation.
