Mercy Auxiliary January
Board Meeting
The Mercy Auxiliary-Clinton Board met January 5th 2004, at Mercy
North Campus. 16 members present with President Rose Jensen presiding.
Jensen introduced Tom Hesselmann, President of Mercy Medical Center.
Mr. Hesselmann reported that the groundbreaking for the radiation
therapy center would be held on Tuesday, January 6, 2004. Mr. Hesselmann
presented the Board with a list of needed items for consideration
that will be purchased by the auxiliary.
Rose Jensen introduced Mr. Robin Fraser, Executive Vice President
of the Mercy Foundation. He thanked the auxiliary for all the contributions
made to the hospital, and he will report on the Fantasy of Lights
at our next meeting.
Dawn Gielau, Director of Volunteer Services reported that the hospital
will be experimenting with some pagers for family members to allow
them more flexibility while they are waiting for surgical patients.
She mentioned that the JCAHO meetings would start January 6th.
Rose Jensen, President reported receiving a check in the amount
of $500 on behalf of the auxiliary from Wal-Mart. A donation was
also received in memory of Evelyn Kearney. A thank you was received
from Norma McDonnell for the work and donations received from the
volunteers on behalf of the Fantasy of Lights.
Norma Hammer, President Elect reported the next luncheon will be
February 16th and at this meeting checks will be presented to the
hospital and the new officers will be installed. The menu will consist
of ham salad croissant sandwich, macaroni salad and cherry pie.
Checks in the amount of $20,000 from the Gift Shop and $1,500 from
the Coffee Bar, and $1,000 from the Thrift Shop were presented to
the Auxiliary.
Joyce Daehler reported the total membership is 383 paid members.
There were 257 volunteers who worked 1640 hours.
The next meeting of the Mercy Auxiliary Clinton Board will be held
on Monday, February 2nd 2004 at the Mercy North Campus Auditorium
“A.”
