Mercy Auxiliary February
Board Meeting
The Mercy Auxiliary Clinton Board met February 9th at Mercy North
Campus, with 18 members present and President Rose Jensen presiding.
Jensen introduced Robin Fraser, Executive Vice President of Mercy
Foundation.
Mr. Fraser updated the board on the final results of the Fantasy.
He thanked the board and all the volunteers who helped in any way
to make the Fantasy a success. The Gala went very well considering
the many events coinciding with the event. It is planned that the
event will take place again next season. Mr. Fraser thanked Norma
Hammer for her attendance and thorough reports given as representative
for the Auxiliary at the Foundation Board meetings. The new person
representing the Auxiliary at the Foundation Board meetings will
be President Elect, Dondeena Giddings.
President Jensen then introduced Dawn Gielau. Dawn reported that
the pagers are a success in Surgical Waiting and the Hospital is
exploring the purchasing of additional pagers for Same Day Surgery.
This way people who are waiting for family members can be paged
when they are finished with a procedure or surgery. Another success
story is that the computer at the information desk will be less
invasive since it has only one process to get into. We still have
a few people who have not attended the mandatory JCAHO meetings
and she will be setting up another date to finish these sessions.
From these meetings we now have bottles of sanitizer fluid at various
places and alcohol wipes near the information desk for the telephone.
President Rose Jensen announced that she sent the name of Nan Bovis
to Iowa Medical Alliance as a nominee for the Volunteer of the Year.
She also thanked the Board for all the work and help they have given
her in the past two years.
Norma Hammer, President Elect, thanked President Rose Jensen for
all the work she has done and a job well done. Four Board members
attended their last meeting, namely, Mary Jane Kampling, Cheral
Thoms, Doris Harris and Wanda Pruett, their work has been well done
and appreciated. The new members on the Board will be Sue Weih,
Vice President of Community Relations, Lorraine Shreffler, Nuclear
Medicine Chairman, Carol Hill, Volunteer Chairman, Betty Krick,
Floor Volunteer Chairman, and Joyce Spormann, Sewing Chairman. The
luncheon will be February 16th and checks will be issued to the
hospital and the new officers will be installed. The menu will consist
of ham salad croissant sandwich, macaroni salad and cherry pie.
Joyce Daehler, Membership Chairman, reported we have three new
members, namely, Karen Burns, Judy Diesch and Don Leavens. We have
386 paid members.
There were 261 volunteers who worked 1828 hours for the Month
of January.
The next meeting of the Mercy Auxiliary Clinton Board will be held
on March 1st at 9:30 a.m. at the Clinton Women’s Club. Dawn
Gielau, Volunteer Services, is planning an in-service. Lunch will
be served. |
