Mercy Medical Center Volunteers Recognized

“Inspire by Example” was the theme for the 2007 Volunteer Recognition Banquet held recently for volunteers at Mercy Medical Center – Clinton.  More than 200 people attended the event that recognized the dedicated service of these individuals for their commitment to the healthcare needs of our community.

Mercy President and CEO Donna Oliver spoke at the dinner and thanked the volunteers for their hours of service to Mercy.  “We could not provide the high level service to our residents, patients and guests without our volunteers,” said Oliver.  “Their dedication to serving others is a gift we can not take for granted.  I am proud and eternally grateful for each and everyone of our volunteers.”

Volunteers can be found providing support and assistance in various aspects of the medical center, within the long-term care facilities, hospice program, and chaplain corps.  Mercy volunteers range in age from 12 years to over 90 years old.

Dawn Gielau, director of Mercy’s Volunteer Services, said, “I am very proud of every volunteer and their accomplishments.  As I look around I see a dynamic group of individuals building a caring foundation of service and that’s what it’s really all about.”
