What to Expect

MercyOne Clinton Outpatient Rehabilitation Department – located at MercyOne Clinton North Health Plaza

MercyOne's comprehensive program includes physical, occupational and speech therapy for people of all ages who are having pain or limitations triggered from numerous conditions and diseases. 

Physical Therapy

  • LSVT BIG – Trains people with Parkinson's disease to move their body more normally.  Treatment improves walking, self-care and other tasks by helping people "recalibrate" how they perceive their movements with what others actually see. It teaches them how and when to apply extra effort to produce bigger motions that are more like the movements of everyone around them.
  • Prosthetic training
  • Neuromuscular rehabilitation
  • Orthopedic and sports injury rehabilitation
  • Dizziness and vertigo rehabilitation
  • Gait and balance training
  • Post-surgical therapy
  • Osteoarthritis treatment and management

Occupational Therapy

  • Lymphedema treatment (two certified therapists on staff)
  • Neuromuscular rehabilitation
  • Orthopedic and sports injury rehabilitation
  • Cognitive therapy
  • Wheelchair assessment
  • Pulmonary condition treatment
  • Post-surgical therapy
  • Tendon and ligament injuries of the shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand
  • Work-related injuries and return to work programs

 Speech Therapy

  • LSVT Loud – Trains people with Parkinson's disease to use their voice at a more normal loudness level while speaking at home, work or in the community.  The key to treatment is helping people "recalibrate" their perceptions so they know how loud or soft they sound to other people and can feel comfortable using a stronger voice at a normal loudness level.
  • Cognitive therapy
  • Dysphagia or swallowing therapy. Services include certified Vital Stim (non-invasive external electrical stimulation) and McNeill Dysphagia Therapy Program therapists. 
  • Treatment of aphasiaor the loss of ability to understand or express speech
  • Post laryngectomy care
  • Assistive communication device assessment and training
  • Treatment of the pediatric population
  • Speech-language development
  • Instrumental swallow assessments - video swallow studies done in coordination with MercyOne Clinton Radiology Department
  • Voice therapy

 MercyOne Inpatient Rehabilitation – provided on all inpatient units at MercyOne Clinton Medical Center

If you find yourself in the hospital following a fall, an auto accident, a stroke or other health event, your physician may order physical, occupational or speech therapy. Our physical, occupational and speech therapists work with the entire interdisciplinary team to help individuals regain their highest level of independence and return home within the shortest amount of time.
