Mercy - Clinton, Genesis Health System Form Mercy Medical Group 07/03/2012 Genesis Health System and Mercy Medical Center, Clinton today announced a partnership to provide increased access to primary care doctors for residents of the greater Clinton area.
The newly formed Mercy Medical Group will provide residents of Clinton County in Iowa and Whiteside and Carroll counties in Illinois with an expanded network of physicians and healthcare professionals.
The partnership will exist to provide increased access to primary care physicians for all residents of the service area of Mercy Medical Center-Clinton. The collaboration between Mercy Medical Center, Clinton and Genesis Health System will establish a network of physicians through acquisition of existing practices and recruiting of new physicians to the area.
"Mercy Medical Group will offer the community a high quality patient experience'' said Sean Williams, President and CEO, Mercy Medical Center, Clinton. "Mercy Medical Group will help us develop a clinical integration model that is critical in the changing health care delivery environment.
"When patients served by Mercy Medical Center can benefit from access to advanced medical technology not available locally, they won't have to travel far from home. Genesis can provide advanced services for the treatment of cancer, heart disease and other serious conditions.''
Genesis President and CEO Doug Cropper said the joint venture with Mercy Medical Center, Clinton is an example of effective collaborations that are becoming more common across the country during the transformation of healthcare.

"Mercy Medical Group physicians will provide the region with physicians who will adopt the highest quality measures, will embrace electronic medical records for seamless care of patients between offices and hospitals, and, will work as partners with Mercy Medical Center."
Genesis will assist Mercy Medical Group patients with access to advanced treatment options through its regional referral center.
