Mercy Medical Center provides competitive wages and a comprehensive benefits program. The following is a brief outline of benefits available to eligible associates.
Performance Evaluations: Associates receive an annual evaluation designed to aid the associate in growth and development.
Promotion/Transfer: All qualified associates will be given first consideration for open positions within the health system. Openings are listed in designated areas at all Mercy-Clinton campuses. Career opportunities within operating divisions of Mercy-Clinton are available for your review in the Human Resources office. Service date and retirement accrual are maintained with transfer.
Pay Practices: Associates are paid on a bi-weekly basis. All hourly associates are paid time and one-half for time worked over 40 hours in one week. Hourly associates will also be paid shift differential for evening, night and weekend shifts.
Part-time associates eligible for insurance benefits are defined as those budgeted 32 or more hours per pay period.
Health Insurance: Full-time and part-time associates are eligible for health insurance on the first of the month following 30 days of employment. Dependent coverage is also available. The cost for health coverage is shared between the associate and Mercy-Clinton. Health and dental premiums are automatically payroll deducted on a pre-tax basis.
Life Insurance: Mercy-Clinton provides all full-time and part-time associates with life insurance coverage on the first of the month following 30 days of employment. Amount of coverage will be 1 x annual wage with a minimum of $10,000 coverage and an equal amount of 1 x annual wage for Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D). Associates may purchase additional life insurance and dependent life insurance at group rates.
Dental insurance: Full-time and part-time associates are eligible for dental insurance coverage on the first of the month following 30 days of employment. Dependent coverage is also available. The cost for dental coverage for full-time associates is shared between the associate and Mercy-Clinton.
Long-term Disability Coverage: Mercy-Clinton provides all full-time associates with long-term disability coverage on the first of the month following 30 days of employment. Benefits are payable after 90 days of disability at 60 percent of regular monthly salary up to $10,000.
Medical Malpractice Coverage: Mercy-Clinton provides protection for claims asserted against any associate while acting within the scope of his/her duties.
Flex Spending Accounts
Health Care and Dependent Care Accounts: Full-time and part-time associates are eligible. These special accounts provide significant tax savings on payments for healthcare expenses not covered by insurance and for dependent care expenses.
Paid Time Off (PTO): Full-time and part-time associates are eligible upon employment. PTO is a flexible time-off program for vacations, holidays, illness or personal reasons. Associates accrue PTO each pay period, based on a percentage of the associate's paid hours. During the first year of full-time employment, associates can accumulate up to 25 days of PTO. The accrual rate will increase at the beginning of the fifth, tenth and twentieth year of employment at Mercy-Clinton.
Leave of Absence: A leave of absence may be utilized for medical, educational and personal reasons. Full-time and part-time associates are eligible after twelve months of employment.
All associates are eligible upon employment. Mercy-Clinton provides a retirement income to vested associates upon reaching normal retirement age. Early retirement benefits are also options available. The comprehensive retirement benefit package is made up of four components:
- Pension plan
- Savings plan 403(b)
- Mercy "match" on your contributions to the savings plan
Continuing Education Units: Many in-house CEU programs are sponsored through our Provider 51 program.
Educational Assistance: Following six months of employment, full-time and part-time associates are eligible for tuition reimbursement.
Associate Wellness Program: All associates are eligible to join the wellness program called "Passport to Health." This program provides the support and encouragement needed in order to become healthier and happier. It provides free education, team programs, wellness assessment, one-on-one counseling and prizes. "Passport to Health" members will receive discounts for a variety of wellness and fitness programs.
Fitness Center: The Fitness Center, located at the South Campus, is available to all associates. It is equipped with treadmills, Airdyne bikes, stationary bikes, Stairmaster, Lido strength-training equipment, hand weights, and fit balls. In addition, exercise equipment is available at the North Campus Wellness Gym for associates' use. Fitness classes are also offered at both campuses.
Associate Patient Discounts: Associates will receive a discount on the unpaid balance after all insurance payments have been received for medical services performed at Mercy-Clinton. A private room will be provided at semi-private rates if available.
Pharmacy Services: Associates may purchase prescription drugs at cost, plus handling charge.
Cafeteria Discounts: Associates receive a reduced rate for cafeteria services. Cafeterias are located at the North and South Campus locations and Mercy Living Center - North.
Uniform/Merchandise Discounts: Associates receive a 25 percent discount on all uniforms and a 15 percent discount on equipment purchased at the Home Medical Equipment store located at the South Campus.
Child Care Program: A child care program for infants through school-aged children is available for all associates. The Child Care Center is located at 638 S. Bluff Boulevard.
